Pietra Ligure is not just the seaside…
Positioned between the sea and Ligurian mountains, it has a wonderful history-enriched hinterland whose nature plays the lord and master. There are numerous places to go for a stroll or on day trips revealing breathtaking scenery set against an unchanged background over time. The Maremola Valley (home to the oldest beech forests in Europe) and the large “Ciazze secche” cork-oak forest (a protected area with rare flowers and fragrant cep mushrooms) are certainly worth mentioning. Ancient Ranzi with its three hamlets is also worth visiting; during Corpus Domini, it is home to the “Stella di Ranzi” (Star of Ranzi) event which involves making a beautiful star-shaped flower composition with fresh flowers.
